The new heaven and new earth seems like such a grand deal to me. Yet in the main passage in the book of Revelation concerning this topic it only gets one verse.
Now, we can learn much about these from other portions of the Bible, but here I am focusing on this
The Millennium, the Final Battle, and the Great White Throne Judgment are over...now what happens? The first verse following Revelation 20 is a very pregnant verse which says,
In Revelation 20:11 the old earth and heaven fled away from the presence of the Great White Throne and there was no place for them. Now in the blink of an eye John sees a new heaven and new earth.
The old is gone...behold, the new!
All sense of time as we know it is now gone. So, I have no idea if this takes a period of days as did the original creation or if it is done in a matter of seconds. It don't think it matters at this point.
But you can just picture John being escorted by
an angel to turn his gaze and see this awesome site.

Now, to get an important point out of this passage we need to remind ourselves of the creation of the first heaven and earth way back in the book of Genesis.
As you read this verse, see if you can pick up on the minute difference between the creation of the first heaven and earth and the creation of the new heaven and new earth. Though the difference is only a very small detail its ramifications are enormous!
Did you see it?
Let's put them on top of each other so you have a better chance...
Originally, God created more than one heaven. "...God created the heavens..."
Then in Revelation 21:1 God created the new "...heaven..."
We know from Paul that there are at least three heavens now (he reports of a man being caught up to the third heaven), but in our glorified existence with God there will be only one heaven.
Do you get the import of what this means?
I'll just ask a few questions and let you draw your conclusions and think on it a little more...
Now, as I talk about God's central presence I am not talking in absolute terms. I am fully aware that Jesus lives within us, the Holy Spirit indwells us, and Jesus is also interceding for us at the Father's right hand.
So for lack of a better term, I use "central presence" to talk of Father's location in human terms. He is far beyond this I know...but we have to use words to communicate even when they fall woefully short.
The order of these events is hard to communicate via a website. But in my book and audio seminar I walk you through each event in its order, including the new heaven and new earth. As you go you can fill in the End Times Chronology so that you will have a full grasp of it when you are done. Then you will feel confident of the order of End Times Events and what we are to be looking for next!
If you desire a detailed book concerning Heaven, I recommend Randy Alcorn's Heaven. He does not deal with the End Times per say, but it is a VERY detailed teaching concerning the new Heaven and new earth.
