Let me begin by stating that if you believe in a Pretribulation Rapture I am not condemning you. I may disagree adamantly with some of my brothers and sisters in Christ, but if you are trusting Christ alone for salvation from your personal sin and eternal damnation then you have received the Holy Spirit and we are spiritually related.
Although I feel VERY strongly about this subject and have this teaching to bring to the Body of Christ, we can disagree and still love each other. I want you to understand this basic motivation of my heart before you continue here.
But I will try to persuade you with God's Word, because He wants us to be alert and ready for the End Times.
He also wants us to have insight and understanding concerning the last days.
He even wants us to have a general idea of the timing and chronology of end times events. Relax...I do not predict any dates for the Rapture or Second Coming of Christ. Read my home page to get my thoughts on that.
Jesus had some tough words for those who could not discern the times...I hope you do not fall into that category...the results could be very dangerous.
Let's start with a...
This position holds that believers will be taken up into heaven in a secret Rapture before the Tribulation and thus we will escape it...and this Rapture can happen at any moment...even right NOW!...are you still here?! uh oh...don't worry, you didn't miss it:-)
In my 2-year study of the End Times (18 months in God's Word followed by 6 months of reading books, listening to seminars, and taking Bible studies on the topic) I had many surprises.
But none was bigger than this. After I studied God's word intensely on the End Times, then I read books from every angle on all the major issues: the Second Coming, the Rapture, the Tribulation, the Millennium, etc.
I only read books that were written by those who believed in the position I was studying. I didn't read any books against any position. That way I would have to see any holes in the position myself.
Having my foundation in the Word after that 18 month study of end times prophetic passages made the Bible my primary source and alarms would go off in my mind when I read something that didn't line up with it.
So many times I thought:
When I read several books, articles, and listened to teachings explaining the Pretribulation stance from its supporters my literal reaction when I got done was..."That's it?!"
I listened and read more in disbelief...there has to be more...there wasn't!
I literally sat there with my mouth open as the realization of the veil that has been pulled over so many eyes. I sat there stunned for several minutes. I remember that moment still today!
I do not know the motives or reasoning behind the authors of all those Pretribulation teachings, and I am in no place to judge them. But their teachings are not only public but they are having a great and dangerous effect on the Body of Christ. Therefore, this site and its resources will confront these issues.
Again, if they are Christians then we are brothers and sisters, and I refuse to attack them here.
My approach will be to give a few of the Scriptures to show how this man-made theory is impossible and more importantly unbiblical.
I don't have room to go over it all on a few pages of a website, but you can see the biblical reasoning against it as I walk you through the End Times Chronology in my book.
The destruction of this manmade theory (and others) is just a byproduct of studying the end times prophetic Scriptures. You will just see how it can't stand in the Word...it fact it contradicts many Scriptures directly.
So if you have a couple of theories corrected then I invite you to join the club of us who have been corrected by God's Word numerous times...
If you were asked, when did the Pretribulation Rapture appear on the scene, what would you say?...
...it wasn't brought onto the scene until the 19th century!
That says a lot about a theory. This is not a litmus test, but think about it.
Were the early church fathers ignorant of this? Were the theologians in the Reformation blinded to this amazingly popular theory today?
If you would like to discover the embarrassing truth of when, where, and how this theory came about you can find the answers in The Rapture Plot by Dave MacPherson.
Remember, as you study these Scriptures and this material that they are coming right at our strongholds of safety, comfort, and security.
You probably wont jump for joy at this specific truth, but the security and confidence will come once your beliefs of the End Times are based clearly on God's Word.
Don't let your feelings rule here. Submit your feelings to the truths in God's Word as you discover them. If you find solid scriptural support against what I see then wrestle it out. I don't have a market on all the truths concerning the End Times...
...but God does. So don't override a scriptural truth with emotional arguments or half-thought-out theories.
The Pretribulation Rapture belief is based on a few out-of-context Scriptures (or even single words). However, if you challenge people on it, you will quickly find that it is deeply rooted in our emotions crying out that we escape any kind of trouble whatsoever. Our western idols of safety, comfort, and security trump God's Word on this issue.
I agree that the Pretribulation Rapture fits my comfort zone better than the Post-Tribulation Rapture, but since when should my comfort zone dictate my theology?
God has made it clear in His Word...we have to choose what/who will be the supreme authority in our lives.
In the beginning I stated that, "...if you believe in a Pretribulation Rapture I am not condemning you." But if people enter the Tribulation completely unprepared...well you can see how the apostasy can gain popularity among Christians who are not deeply rooted in insight and understanding of God's Word in general and the End Times specifically.
Remember, only one thing must be LEFT BEHIND...man's theories...of which the Pretribulation Rapture is one of the biggest.
